A memorial service for Evelina will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 2 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Chapel.
Evelina Quintanilla was born on July 9, 1949 in Brownsville, TX. Affectionately known as EQ or Nana, she grew up in Kermit, Texas and graduated from Kermit High School in 1972. After the death of her parents, she resided in Snyder with her sister and her sisters’ family until her passing.
She loved music, specifically old country music. She also enjoyed being outdoors, crossword puzzles, and Western Classic movies. She was devoted to her congregation, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her family was also very important to her.
She loved to cook and try new recipes. To have known EQ was to have laughed with or to have shared a kind word with. Being socially awkward was a special gift she embraced; those around her were drawn to her kind and loving heart. EQ was a wonderful older sister and mother like figure to her nieces and nephews. Selflessness and generosity were two traits that highlighted her personality. She touched the lives of so many people before her untimely passing.
EQ was a hard worker, she worked harder than most men. She had a quirky smirk that made you wonder what she was really thinking. Her sense of humor was one that at times, only she understood. Even when ill, EQ was never angry, sad, or depressed - she could find the silver lining to keep pushing forward in any situation. She was so special. She represented the good that we all need every day in our lives. She was one of a select few who could rise to meet challenges with a smile. We are proud to have been able to call EQ our sister, sister-in-law and aunt.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnulfo & Dolores Quintanilla and her dad, Silverio Quintanilla.
EQ is survived by a very special aunt, Eugenia Perez of San Antonio, Texas
EQ is survived by her sister, Sara Ornelas and husband Matt of Snyder, Texas; their five children, Stephanie, Miranda, Matt Jr, Lindsey and Joshua. 8 great nieces, 6 great nephews, 3 great-great nieces and 1 great-great nephew
