Frantz Bowden

January 6, 1935 — March 22, 2020

Frantz Bowden, known to her family as Mom and Mimi, and to her friends as Fran, completed her journey home on March 22, 2020 following a short stay in Covenant Hospital, Lubbock, Texas. She was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior, her loving Father, and her empowering Holy Spirit. She was also welcomed by her father and mother, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and a great host of witnesses who went home before her.

Fran Bowden was born January 6, 1935 to Sterling and Ruth Smith. She married the love of her life, Roland, on August 21, 1952. If she knew you, you were family, whether from East Side Church of Christ, the long time co-workers at Western Texas College, the Sojourners (Church Building) family, the workers at the Snyder Food Cupboard, or just those she lived near or interacted with through her 85 year journey. She loved you all and emulated her Lord and Savior as she served each of you.

She is survived by her husband of almost 68 years, Roland; two sons, Terry Bowden and his wife, Paula of Snyder, and Rick Bowden of Alanya, Turkey; six grandchildren: Allison and Matt Wetz of Midland, Jeremy and Alisha Bowden of Granbury, Bryson and Ashley Bowden of Northlake, Tx., Courtney and Bernard Brenner of Longwood, Florida, Scotlin and Jen Bowden of Northlake, Tx., and Mckenzie Bowden of Northlake, Tx. She was blessed to have 8 beautiful great-grandchildren, Dillen Wetz, Triston, Ty, and Bentley Bowden, Avery, Addison and Jackson Bowden, and S.J. Bowden, with two more to arrive soon; a sister, Jerry Lynn Mullens of Houston, and several nieces and nephews, and an amazing church family where she served faithfully until her last breath.

Memorials can be made to the Needy Children's Fund or the Mission Foundation through East Side Church of Christ in Snyder, Texas.

1 Thessalonians 4:13 - 16:
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

15 According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

We will see her again very soon.

A private family graveside service will be held with a celebration of life service to be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
