A graveside service for Mr. Gene Edwin Bowlin will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Bowlin was born in a farm house near the Pyron school, January 3, 1935. His mother, Valene, died when he was 10 days old and he was raised by his paternal grandparents, William Preston and Mary Emmett Pollard Bowlin. At an early age, he moved to Hermleigh with them and learned to drink coffee out of a saucer when he was 2 years old, much to the dismay of his father, Terrell Richmond Bowlin.
He was a frequent overnight visitor to Joseph Oliver and Martha Elizabeth Leech, his maternal grandparents on their farm near Hermleigh.
He graduated from Hermleigh High School in 1952, went to work a few days later for Texas Electric Service Company, later TU Electric, now TXU Electric, where he took early retirement November 1, 1992. He began spending summers in Colorado helping build a log home where he enjoyed spending summers for many years.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, a daughter, Sherri Smith and a son Michael Bowlin.

His daughter, Sheila Dunlap, and her husband Buddy of Beeville
His stepson, J.B. Barrett of Borden County
2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and 1 step-grandson
Numerous great-grandchildren
