Funeral services for Mr. Jeramy Derrick, 45, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Still Waters Cowboy Church with Rev. Aaron Bequette officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
Mr. Jeramy Berrion Derrick was born October 23, 1976 in Snyder, Texas. He passed from this life January 13, 2022 in Carthage, Texas. Jeramy was born to the marriage of Jerry Wayne and Sherry Freeman Derrick. He was raised in Lubbock, Texas graduating high school from New Life Christian Academy. He was a recent graduate of the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service with an associate’s degree with honors and distinction.
Mr. Derrick worked as a teacher at New Life Academy for 17 years, director for Winkler House assisted living, taught at Northside Christian Academy and served as a funeral director at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Jeramy was active in the Northside Christian Center as a worship leader, playing piano, guitar, keyboard, and worked with the youth. His musical talent extended to playing throughout the community at local events, playing, singing at the Country Music Hayride and with Grateful Life. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray and Barbara Freeman, Jim Derrick, and E. E. and Jessie Palo.
Mr. Derrick is survived by his wife, Holly Derrick of Carthage; parents Sherry Ward and husband Rick of Oklahoma, Jerry Derrick and wife Renda of Carthage, step father, Donny Eilenberger of Post; grandmother, Verna Sellars of Snyder; siblings, Jennifer Rivers and husband Lance of Jacksonville, FL, Jessica Rhodes and husband Justin of Carthage; Joshua Eilenberger and Delana of Big Springs, Janssen Eilenberger of Oklahoma; Jon Eilenberger of Post; foster children, Corey Jones and husband John of Longview, Elvia Ontiveros and husband Chad of Carthage, Oscar Ontiveros of Carthage, Allen Ontiveros Jr. of San Diego, CA; special cousin, Joe Hodge and wife Vicki of Snyder; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
