Dr. John Scott Johnson, of Granbury, TX previously of Snyder and Lubbock died on Sunday, December 25, 2022 in Granbury, Texas.
A graveside service for John will be held on Thursday, December 29, at Hillside Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM with Reverend Ryan Ford officiating. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at Lakeridge United Methodist Church in Lubbock on January 14, 2023 at 1:00 PM.
John Scott Johnson was born on September 19, 1957 in Burbank, CA to Colonel (Ret) Jerry Rogers and Barbara Ann Johnson. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley until 1967 when the family moved to Fort Sill Oklahoma when his father returned to the army as a career.
John graduated from Lawton High School in 1974 and then spent time in Germany with his parents until he began his college career at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina in 1975.
From there he decided to pursue a career as a pharmacist and started attending classes at Southwestern Oklahoma State School of Pharmacy and graduated in 1980. While attending college he met and married his soulmate Julie Dawn Glass of Snyder on May 24, 1980.
He began his pharmacy career as a sales representative for Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals in Lubbock, Texas. He then moved to Snyder, Texas and was the pharmacist and assistant hospital administrator at Cogdell Memorial Hospital. During his time in Snyder he was also a member of the City Council.
John was an officer in the Naval Reserve beginning in Lubbock and served until 1995 obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
In 1989 his career path took on a new direction when he decided to pursue dentistry. He was accepted and did a residency in Pediatric Dentistry in San Antonio, Texas graduating with honors from the University Of Texas School Of Dentistry in 1995.
John moved back to Lubbock, Texas and went into private practice as a Pediatric Dentist where he served the Lubbock community for 24 years at his office as well as the Covenant Surgicenter. He loved his work, the staff, and all his patients. He retired in 2019 and relocated to Granbury, Texas.
John was a member of Lakeridge United Methodist Church in Lubbock, Texas and was very involved with his Sunday school class, and serving on the finance committee. He had a deep faith and always wanted to help others.
John was an avid fisherman and fished both on the lake and fly fished in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico.
John was a member of the Wings Model Airplane Society in Lubbock for about 20 years and the Thunderbirds Club in Benbrook for about 2 years. He enjoyed competition but more watching everyone else and building relationships. His other hobbies included sports cars and flying his full scale airplane.
He is survived by his wife Julie Johnson of Granbury
Children: Nicholas Johnson and wife Jessica of Granbury and Liz Thomas (Johnson) and husband Chris of Celina whom his life revolved around.
Four wonderful grandchildren who kept him busy and he loved every minute with them: Ana and Adi Johnson and Jet and Grayson Thomas.
Two brothers: Pete Johnson and wife Mary of Colorado and Tim Johnson of Dallas
Numerous Cousins: including his best man in his wedding, Todd Mirolla and wife Nanette of San Luis Obispo, California
Brother-in-law: Rodney and wife Jana Glass of Snyder
Father-in-law: Wayne Glass of Snyder
Nephews: Jeff and wife Rachel Johnson, Chris Johnson, and Kevin and wife Sophia Johnson
One Niece: Sydney and husband Jimmy Grant of Rosharon, Texas
Three great nephews and one great niece.

Multiple other friends and family
Preceded in death by his parents: Jerry and Barbara Johnson and mother-in-law Margaret Glass
Grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins
Visitation will be held Wednesday December 28, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
