Josephine (Jo) C. Newton

Mrs. Josephine (Jo) Newton, 96 of Snyder, TX died on Thursday March 24, 2022 with her family by her side.

A graveside service for Mrs. Newton will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 2:00PM at Hillside Memorial Gardens with Reverend Carroll Kohl officiating.  Services are under the direction of Bell Cypert Seale.

Mrs. Newton was born on Tuesday, January 26, 1926 in Madill, OK to Hugh and Mamie (Wilson) Carlton.  She moved to Snyder in 1947.  She later married Woody Newton, Sr. on April 18, 1954 and ran Rental Tool Company with him until she began working as a bookkeeper for the Les Francis Chevrolet dealership.  She continued with the dealership through various owners until her retirement from Bill Wilson Big Country Auto in July 2011.  Jo was a member of the Methodist church.

Jo is survived by two grandsons Billy Newton and wife Angela, Coahoma, TX, Kevin Newton, Houston, TX; one granddaughter Andrea Ekdahl and husband Todd, Killeen, TX; two great granddaughters Heather Hill and husband Cory, Coahoma, TX, Breanna Guerrero and husband Eli, Lubbock, TX; two great-great grandchildren Harley and Stryker Hill; two nieces Jean Hataway, Dyane Jones and husband Ronnie.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband Woody Newton, Sr.; son Woody Newton, Jr.; her parents Hugh and Mamie (Wilson) Carlton; two brothers Bill Carlton and Dale Carlton; and sister Francis Reeves; one grandson Mark Newton.
