Judy (Jennings) Vaughan passed away on September 4, 2019 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas after a brief illness. Judy was born August 25, 1934 to Luther and Audra Jennings in Dunn, Texas. She was the third of five children. She spent her childhood in several different towns, all in West Texas. Judy went to work in a cafeteria at the age of 12 to help her family. She was an intelligent girl, and from a young age she was motivated to work hard and learn as much as she could to improve her situation. In 1950, at the age of 14, she met and married Louie Trinon Vaughan. Judy finished high school, then the couple moved to Austin, Texas so that Louie could attend the University of Texas. Judy took several college classes while they were there and worked typing dissertations for graduate and post graduate students.
When Louie graduated, she and Louie returned to Snyder. Judy found a job with the District Attorney as a legal secretary. Their only child, David Bradley Vaughan, was born during those early years in Snyder. After working for thirteen years for the District Attorney, Judy found employment with Southwestern Bell and worked for that company in various positions until her retirement.
Judy was a loving mother and wife who worked diligently every day to help her family succeed. She loved card games, especially Bridge and played with her Snyder friends until very recently. She is survived by her son, David B. Vaughan MD and daughter-in-law Laura L. Vaughan of Brenham, TX, her grandson, David Michael Vaughan, JD, of Galveston,TX, her granddaughter Rachel E. Nabors and husband Bradley, of Dallas, TX, her sister, Lee Cook, of Roaring Springs, TX, her sister Jo Crowder and her niece, DeNisa Brown, both of Dalhart, TX, and her nephew, Buddy Crowder, of Lubbock, TX. Her family would like to express their deep gratitude to Billy Evans, her next door neighbor and friend for many years.
