Karen Head went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2023. She was born Karen Sue Eaves on August 13, 1941 in Lubbock, Texas to Howard and Lytle Eaves.
When she wasn’t setting up a beauty shop in her bathroom, Karen could be found working on the family farm driving the tractor, working cows or mowing the lawn. She would threaten to “quit” working for her husband at least once a week if he criticized how she was performing her duties, but she proved to be a valuable ranch hand.. Karen was an amazing cook and could be found every day in the kitchen making the best home cooking using her favorite ingredients: butter and bacon drippings. Her grandchildren would get so spoiled by MeMee’s cooking and would come home convinced their parents didn’t know how to cook because it didn’t taste like hers.
When Karen wasn’t on the tractor or in the kitchen she could be found in her craft room painting china and canvases, sewing, or scrapbooking her favorite subjects, her grandchildren. She was blessed with creativity and excelled at any arts and crafts project she set her mind on. When her kids were younger her favorite yearly vacation was to Ruidoso, New Mexico to bet on the horse races. When they became empty nesters Morris and Karen loved to travel to Las Vegas several times a year where she was happiest propped up in front of a slot machine, playing bingo, or seeing a show.
Karen is survived by her husband Morris, her children Keith Head (Candace) of Great Falls, Montana, Michael Head (Joan) of Snyder and Kristi (Clint) of Aledo, Texas. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren: Stacy (George) Fontanez, Cody Head (Ashley), Tyrell Head (Sabra), Regan Head (Karyss), Taylor Bramow (Jason), Carly Siddons and Katie Siddons. She also left behind several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Lytle Eaves, her in-laws Audry and Bonnie Head, her brother Donnie, and her sister Ella.
Her family would like to thank the numerous caregivers that loved and took care of Karen like their own family including Rachel, Janie, Polly, Billie, Linda, Dr. Burleson, Cogdell Hospice, and Buffie and the staff at Good Life Senior Living and Memory Care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
