Leo Ray Peveler went home with a good friend as of Thursday, March 10, at 2:40 PM. He was surrounded by his wife, Grandson Tom Fuston and wife Brenda.
Services for Mr. Peveler will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Avenue D. Baptist Church with Reverend Dalton Mathis officiating. Internment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Peveler was born on November 19, 1927 in Ozona, TX to Henry Graham and Zella Alice (Winans) Peveler. He married Suzane Burgess Bates on Friday, August 12, 2016 in Thrasher, MS at Thrasher Baptist Church. Ray earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M and was a part of the Corps of Cadets. It was there that he received his commission into the Army where he proudly served from 1952-1954. He enjoyed his career as the chief appraiser until his retirement in 1998. Ray was a member of Avenue D Baptist Church, Lions Club, Scurry Masonic Lodge #706, and the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple.
