Lois Marie Hodges Skaggs
Graveside services for Lois, 98, of Hermleigh will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cybert-Seale Funeral Home of Snyder.
Lois Marie Hodges Skaggs passed away February 18, 2021 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice.
Lois Marie (Hodges) Skaggs was born March 2, 1922 in Fisher County, Texas to Carroll Hodges and Jennie Hattox Hodges. Lois married George Edward (Bud) Skaggs December 18, 1939 in Littlefield, Texas, making their home in DeLeon before moving to Morton in 1944.
A resident of Snyder since 1969, and the Hermleigh community since 2005, Lois worked for a few companies in Snyder but worked last for Cogdell Memorial Hospital and retiring from Cogdell Memorial Hospital. Lois was a member of First Baptist Church, Hermleigh, Texas.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Jennie Hodges; her husband Bud Skaggs in 2001; a grandson, Robby Davenport in 1993; a son-in-law, Melvin Davenport in 2005; and by one sister, I.V. Hodges Callis; and five brothers, Eulon Hodges, Jasper Hodges, Vernor Dee (Buck) Hodges, Floyd Hodges and Waylon Hodges.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law; Linda Davenport of Hermleigh, and Juanice and Troy Tyson of Levelland; three grandchildren, Shellie Phillips, Marni Tyson Roberson and Toby Tyson; ten great grandchildren, Alisa Ford Mayle, LaRae Ford, Joe Dan Davenport, Dustin Davenport, Brandon Davenport, Alec Roberson, Coleman Roberson, Avery Roberson, Madison Roberson and Teagan Tyson; ten great-great grandchildren, Brittany Martin, Chelsea Hawkins, Sierra Mayle, Sereena Mayle, Zoey Mayle, Audry Chavez, Trae Chavez III, Talan Davenport, Keagan Davenport, Masyn Davenport; and one great-great-great granddaughter, Amani Romero.
We want to express our gratitude and appreciation to Rachel Welch and Priscilla Ashley with Cogdell Hospice, Dr. Huff, Dr. Burleson and the nurses and staff at Cogdell Memorial Hospital, for the excellent care given our mother (Mamaw) this past year.
