Red was born September 4, 1927 in Snyder to James & Mae Huddleston Pinkerton on the  family farm where he grew up with 10 siblings.  He always said, “ if you took time to complain about the food, someone would eat your share.”  Red ’s  work ethic was developed from working on the farm from daylight to dark unless he was in  school. He grew up during the depression and learned to be frugal. The family had a love for music and most played the guitar or fiddle.

Red  met and married his love, Dovie Marchbanks, on May 18, 1946 in Snyder and was married for 56 years.  Most of his life he worked in  the oilfield and for several years he had a business, West Texas Construction.  Red and Dovie were active members of Ave. D Baptist Church for many years.  Red played the harmonica and the guitar, and sang with his wife at church  often with another couple.  Red enjoyed camping and fishing so he and Dovie traveled  in their motor home to various lakes and sometimes out of state to spend some time. He belonged to the Snyder Bass Club where he won numerous  fishing tournaments.  He loved his family especially the grandchildren and  all the “greats” and was affectionately called Papa.

Survivors are his daughter,  Lora (Jerry) Christmas of Brownwood;  his son Harvey (Suzan) Pinkerton of Snyder ; six grandchildren, Amy (Roy) Fava of Christoval, Jocarol ( Eric) Chambless of Abilene, Shelley (Lee) Johnson of San Antonio, Chad (Michielyn) Christmas of Brownwood, Jocelyn ( Moose) Amato, Heath (Whitney) Pinkerton; 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; and a sister in law, Mrs. E.E. Pinkerton of Snyder. Also, he is survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
