Miquila (Mickey) Acosta Carrasco

September 16, 1934 — September 20, 2023

Miquila “Mickey” Carrasco received her wings and was called home to live her Eternal Life with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. She was surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home in Little Elm, Texas. Mickey was born to Alberto and Paula Acosta on September 16, 1934 in Fort Stockton, Texas. She attended Fort Stockton schools and later went on to marry the love of her life, Joe Carrasco, on March 17, 1950. God blessed them with a beautiful family and together they raised their children in Snyder, Texas.

Despite having a 7 th grade education, her hard work and commitment rewarded her with a career in the Snyder Independent School District. She positively impacted both her students and her colleagues throughout her years with Snyder ISD until she retired. Mom was also proud to be a Guadalupana where she made lifelong friends and devoted countless hours serving the community of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Mom was not only “our” Mom. She was MOM to everyone. She was a model of humility and selflessness who always put others before herself and she had a tireless devotion to her family. Her door was always open, and she welcomed everyone into her home with an open heart. You would usually find her tending to her son, Rudy, sewing, cleaning or in the kitchen preparing delicious meals or sweet treats. She was an exceptional baker and cook and although everything she made was delicious; she was most famous for her “red enchiladas”.

Momma and Daddy had the “Come One Come All” mentality and always loved having family, friends, and their children’s friends over. They also enjoyed hanging out with compadres and spending every free moment at the lake. We are so thankful for all the special memories we have made over the years with MOM. Mom’s favorite pastimes were attending mass, spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending every soccer game Vicente played, attending all her grandchildren’s events, chatting with her sister Amy every day at noon, celebrating all holidays with family, working on word searches while she snacked, catching up with friends and relatives over long phone calls, going out to eat, shopping and watching La Rosa de Guadalupe and her novelas every evening.

Mom had a determination like no other and her optimism was simply inspiring. Her faith was an inspiration to anyone she encountered and her loyalty to God her Father was undeniable. She taught us that no one is perfect, we all make mistakes (but you must learn from your mistakes) and that when times get tough – keep your head up because tomorrow is a new day. Always seek God’s will over your own and be faithful in your struggles and grateful in your joys. She always said: “Solo Dios Sabe” and “Dios Por Delante”.

To say that Mom persevered through some challenging times in her life was an understatement. She eloquently navigated through life like a warrior. No matter the challenges, her FAITH never wavered. She always found strength and determination to carry on and her servant heart was always her guiding light. She was the matriarch of our family and forever will be. She was loved by all, and she loved everyone equally. She was graciously thankful that her Lord and Savior blessed her with an extremely close-knit family and extended family. She is equally loved by daddy’s side of the family.

Mom was a unique soul. A true treasure. A very special lady that positively impacted the people around her. She leaves a legacy of faith, love, and compassion. We are thankful and blessed that we all had the privilege of knowing this beautiful angel on earth for 89 years. Thank you, Jesus, for blessing us all.

We are forever grateful.
