Modean Riley

May 13, 1929 — May 31, 2024

Modean Riley, affectionately known as Mother, Meme, and Aunt Dean, passed away May 31, 2024. Born on May 13, 1929, In Electra, TX, she was lovingly referred to as “The Red River Rose”. Although she was raised on Main Street in Electra, by her loving parents. The most precious memories of her younger years, came from her time spent on the Waggoner Ranch with her beloved grandfather.

After making her home in Snyder, she worked as a bank teller for over 40 years, in the local banks in our community. She enjoyed greeting a new customer every few minutes and seeing the many faces of Scurry County. She was known for her upbeat, welcoming personality, and her beautiful outfits.

Her door was always open to her friends and family, she was always available in a time of need, offering support, wisdom, “free advice”, and most of all an abundance of love.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she faithfully set on her favorite pew. Modean was a beautiful seamstress, an artist, and a wonderful cook. She could “fix” anything. Sunday lunch at her house, after church, was her favorite time of the week.  She set the prettiest dinner tables, and her home was always beautiful for the holidays.  Her home was always filled with love, excitement, and fun. She enjoyed watching a good horse race, playing dominos, and wheel of fortune.  Her love of life and others always lit up a room.

Modean will be missed by many, as she leaves behind a host of friends, and a loving family.

The family is appreciative to Mitchell County Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Interim Hospice, and the caretakers that touched her life.
