Randy Hays, longtime Scurry County resident and rancher, went to be with his Lord and Saviour February 29, 2020 in Snyder after a lengthy illness, with his loving wife of 50 years, Jessie Jo, by his side.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 2nd at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder with Pastor Danny Williams officiating. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Hays was born in Lubbock, Texas on March 14, 1946 to S. D. Hays and Judy McDonnell Hays. He graduated from Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, Texas. While attending Angelo State University, he met the love of his life, Jessie Jo Ault and they were married October 25, 1969 on the Hays ranch which has remained home for 51 years. From this union was born a daughter, Shanna and son, Shawn.
He enjoyed memorable times traveling with the kids taking them to compete in numerous Quarter Horse shows across many states and Canada. Randy was most proud to be "G-Paw" to his two grandsons, Bryce and Hunter. He enjoyed taking them rabbit hunting and letting them drive the pick up on pasture roads. Mr. Hays ranched in New Mexico, Dickens as well as Snyder.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Shanna.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Jo; son Shawn Hays and his wife Tammy and grandsons, Bryce and Hunter Hays all of Nocona, Texas; brother-in-law Tommy Ault and wife Veronica (Ronnie) of Lometa, Texas. Two nieces; Stacy Hendrick and her husband, Jason; Joni Thorp and her husband Randy and one nephew, Thad Ault all of Lampasas, Texas. He is also survived by numerous cousins, great nephews and nieces. Also left to honor his life are many faithful friends whose prayers helped sustain the family through the darkest times.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Texas Boys Ranch, American Cancer Association or charity of choice.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Jim Burleson, Dr. Tom Kerr, Cogdell Home Health and Hospice, Kenny Robinson and the staff and caregivers of Goodlife Senior Living of Snyder.
