Richard Lee Wall, recently of Horseshoe Bay, Texas passed from this life to the next on January 12, 2022, after a courageous fight with cancer.
Dick was born January 26, 1935, in Scurry County Texas, to Grover and Maurine Wall, the oldest of three children. He grew up around Hermleigh, Texas on a cotton farm, working hard in the field with his family. He was an exceptional athlete and played football for Hermleigh, a small school program, yet he was awarded an athletic scholarship to Texas Tech to play college football for the Red Raiders from 1953 to 1957. Dick eloped with and married the love of his life, Ann Borland Wall, on January 9, 1954. They were married until the time of Ann’s death in 2019.
After college, Dick went to work for Texaco and worked for them for 38 years, living in Hobbs, New Mexico, Andrews, Crane and Pampa Texas where he retired as a production superintendent for Texaco \ Chevron. Dick loved the outdoors; he was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter, an unbeatable wing shot, tagging highflyers most of us could barely see.
He was amazing at woodworking, building beautiful furniture for their home, and winning a national prize for a grandfather clock that he built. He was a history buff and loved reading about people who served in our military in World War 2, to whom he felt great gratitude as he was a true patriot. He loved to play the guitar and loved country music and dancing. He and Ann could be seen showing off some amazing foot work at local dances, even in their golden years. Dick was a member of The Church of Christ and was a regular at its services.
Dick leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Ricci Wall Olson and husband Larry of Horseshoe Bay and Paula Wall Scott and husband Tom of Fort Worth, grandchildren Kate Wright and husband Craig of Austin, Braden Bliss and wife Kari of Austin, Leah Coffey and husband Brien of Aledo Texas, a great granddaughter, Brilee Ann Coffey, and his brother Wallace Wall and wife Caroline of Tulsa Oklahoma, his sister Jane Jones and husband Marty of Amarillo .
