Mr. Sam Walker, 76 of Snyder,TX died on Thursday, October 18, 2018 in Oba, Ontario, Canada.
A memorial service for Mr. Walker will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Bell-Cypert-Seale Chapel at 2 o'clock PM with Reverend Rocky Alexander officiating. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Sam was born on Monday, May 25, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas, to the late Raymond and Hattie (Chenoweth) Walker. He grew up in Boise, Oklahoma before enlisting in the U. S. Army in 1961. While in the Army, he earned merits for Expert Rifleman. He later attended Wayland Baptist College, Amarillo College of Vocational Arts, and Hobart School of Welding Technology before entering the welding field.
Sam was best known as a Welding instructor at Western Texas College for 45 years. He was one of the original faculty members and began the college's welding program in 1971. Walker Hall, the welding facility located on the campus of WTC, was named in his honor in May 2011 to commemorate his dedication to his students and the welding field.
When he wasn't in the classroom, Sam was in Ontario, Canada managing his fish camp. He loved the outdoors and spent many years there. He could also be found riding his motorcycle. Sam was also a longtime member of the First Church of God in Ira.
