Sammie Elizabeth Wilson

Sammie Elizabeth Wilson, 93, of Snyder, TX passed peacefully in her sleep on July 30, 2021 at her home in Snyder.

Services for Mrs. Wilson will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at  10 o’clock AM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with Hospice Chaplain Kinney Robinson officiating. Internment will follow at Colorado City Cemetery in Colorado City.

Mrs. Wilson was born on January 20, 1928 in Colorado City, TX to Sam Huse Bedford and Mattie Elizabeth (Killian) Bedford.  She was a lifelong educator working as a librarian and teacher for Colorado City I.S.D, Snyder I.S.D. and various others for over 40 years.

She married Truman L. Wilson on August 8, 1975 in Snyder and immediately became the beloved stepmother and grandmother to four grown children and an ever-growing cadre of grandchildren, and eventually great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Sam” by the entire family of which she was an integral part for almost 46 years.

She is survived by two stepdaughters, Patti Kornegay and husband Harold of Snyder, Jane Birtcil of Oregon, one stepson, J.D. Wilson and wife Karen of Ohio, one stepdaughter-in-law, Julie Wilson of Oklahoma, seven grandchildren, Roy J. Smith of Conroe, Terribeth Bond of Oklahoma, Jennifer Porter of Pearland, Kathy Campbell of Brazoria, Scott Wilson of Oklahoma, Adam Wilson of Ohio, Reston Wilson of Ohio, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman L. Wilson, parents Sam Huse Bedford and Mattie Elizabeth (Killian) Bedford, sister Mamie Lou New, and stepson Roy Wilson.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to hospice nurses Rachel and Priscilla, hospice chaplain Kinney Robinson, and especially the around-the-clock home caretaking team led by Esther Martinez, who have been by her side constantly with care and companionship for the past four years.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 2, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
