She was a fierce mother, grandmother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. She started out as a candy striper in Colorado City, Texas and went on to receive her diploma in nursing. She was still practicing as a nurse at the time of her death - a career that spanned over 50 years. As most of you know, her love language was cooking. She cooked everything, but her favorite thing to make was desert! She grew a garden every year and canned vegetables and fruits, which we all will be reaping the rewards of for years to come. If you knew her well, you know she loved having a good time: going out to eat, having a beer with friends, hunting for a good bargain, swapping chickens and/or peddling eggs, dropping some coins at the casino, chasing her grandkids around the country, talking to her siblings for hours at a time. ALL things related to her friends and family. She just couldn't get enough of the people she loved. We couldn't get enough of her either. She will be greatly missed; a void that will never be filled. There will never be anyone like her.
Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lynn Grimes; grandson, Tanner Wayne Fowler; parents Kenneth and Dollie Mae Childers, and brother Wayne Rhea Snowden. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Lynn Fowler (Todd); three grandchildren, Rileigh, Morgan and Hayden Fowler; two sisters, Wanda Suggs Brooks and Judy Snowden Clare; brother, David Childers; two nieces, Wendy Palmer and Sherry Anderson (Tom); two nephews, Loyd Harris (Kelly) and David A. Childers; four stepchildren, Patricia Brown, Tony Grimes (Misty), Bobby Grimes (Wendy) and Terry Grimes (Susan); numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; she lovingly cared for Lori's two half-sisters, Shelby Jan Melton (Jonathan) and Abby Jo Williams (Austin) and their children Brendalynn, Jones, Kegan and Kallaway; as well as many extended family members and friends.
