Thomas Jerry Roberts

Mr. Thomas Jerry Roberts, 85 of Snyder, TX died on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas.

A Military Funeral Service for 1 ^st SGT. Ret. Thomas J. Roberts will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Mr. Roberts was born on Tuesday, March 30, 1937, in Roswell, NM to Thomas A. and Ruby (Martin) Roberts. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1955 and went on to serve in the United States Army. His last duty assignment was HHC 1/40 ^th Armor, 5 ^th Infantry Division.  He served bravely and was awarded the Bronze Star, two Meritorious Service Medals, Purple Heart, and other performance recognition medals. He retired from the Army in 1981.

He was an accomplished artist and obtained a master’s degree in Fine Arts at Northwestern University in LA.  He became a professor of Fine Arts at his alma mater.

After his many travels and adventures, he returned to his hometown of Snyder, TX where he continued to share his talents of painting, adventures and storytelling to the community, friends and those he loved and cherished. For more than 18 years, He was a member of the Snyder Masonic Lodge #706 where he achieved the 32 ^nd degree in a very short time, which is an example of his perseverance and dedication to meet each challenge head on.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. and Ruby Roberts.

A public viewing will be held will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 1 PM to 4 PM at Bell Cypert Seale Funeral Home.
