Thomas Milton Stinson

Thomas Milton Stinson, age 86 was called home on July 20, 2021. He was born on December 8, 1934 at Valley Mills, Texas to Milton and Tressie Stinson. After his father's military career they settled in Colorado City, Texas where Tom graduated from High School in 1953. He then attended Abilene Christian College, graduating in 1957 with a degree in agriculture.
After graduation, Tom worked in Colorado City where he met and married Iva Wimberley. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in May of 2021. In 1961, Tom took a job with the U.S. Forest Service in Tonopah, Nevada. After five years there, he was transferred to Challis, Idaho. In 1979, he was transferred again to Fillmore, Utah where he retired after 30 years of service, working as a Range Conservationist. Retirement brought them to Snyder at the beginning of 1990. He has been an active member of 37th St. Church of Christ and began teaching Bible lessons in the Price Daniel Unit. That continued for several years, until his health began to fail. He served as a deacon and later as an elder at 37th St.
Tom enjoyed being a handyman and had a lifetime membership in the Handyman Club of America. He also did a lot of leather working. His volunteer work at the prison and at 37th St. brought him a lot of satisfaction.
He is survived by his wife, Iva of the home, four brothers; Elvin Stinson of Pleasanton, Texas, William and wife Glenda of Colorado City, Texas, Truman and wife Joan of Marble Falls, Texas, and Kenneth Stinson and wife Fay of Worland, Wyoming. Surviving children include Aleta Long and husband Stewart of Snyder, Texas, Teresa Stinson of Bowman, California, Stephen Stinson of Mesa, Arizona, Gary Stinson and wife Tonya of Gresham, Oregon, and Laurie Etheredge and husband Chad of Gail, Texas. He has 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Stinson will be Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 37th Street Church of Christ at 2:00 PM with Mr. Bob Martin and Mr. Perry Westmoreland officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Bell Cypert Seale Funeral Home.
A family visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, 2021 from 6 to 7 PM at Bell Cypert Seale Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorial donations be made in Thomas' name to 37th Street Church of Christ at 2500 37th Street, Snyder, TX 79549 or World Bible School at  PO BOX 2169 Cedar Park, Texas 78630.
