Verna Leone Foree passed from this life to her home with Jesus on September 27, 2018. She was born to Eula Mae Miller Price and Lawrence Price on March 29, 1921 at home near Ira, Texas.
Services for Mrs. Foree will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 10 o'clock AM at First Baptist Church Chapel in Snyder with Reverend Ben Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 4-5 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home In Snyder.
She graduated from Ira High School in 1939 and after graduation her family moved to Snyder, Texas. She married Earl Foree on September 4, 1940 in Snyder. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1998. They had two children, Charles Foree of Lexington, Kentucky and Jane Foree Goode of Pampa, Texas. Earl worked for Magnolia Seismogragh Drilling Company for about 20 years and the family moved often. They lived in Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida. In 1960 they moved back to their hometown of Snyder. Verna owned and operated the Tot 2 Teen which was a clothing store for children for about 20 years.
Before and after retirement, she was very active in Snyder Business Women's Association, Hospital Auxillary volunteer program, joined several bridge clubs and was an active participant in Snyder Senior Citizen's Center.
Her love of music was her true passion and she had a lovely singing voice and she sang in the choir at First Baptist Church. She loved her church family and loved raising money for missions and under privileged children. After failing health, she moved to a nursing home in Amarillo to be near her daughter.
Her pride and joy were her children until her grandchildren were born and then the grandchildren fell by the wayside after the great grandchildren were born. Her decorated walls of her family pictures were her treasures. Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Her sister Wana Fisher and her brother Miller Price. She is survived by her beloved sister Mary McCowan of McKinney, her children, Charles Foree and wife Linda of Lexington, Kentucky and Jane Goode and husband Ronnie of Pampa, Texas. Her grandchildren, David and Wendy Goode of Lubbock, Shay and Janine Goode of Amarillo, Natosha and Robert Douglas of Pampa, Holly Rush of Lexington, Michael Foree of Oskarshamn, Sweden, Michael Shepard of Lexington,Kentucky, Melissa and Cameron Ditty of Hebron, Kentucky. The great grandchildren are Zach Goode, Connor and Carter Goode, Emma Rush, Natalie and Autumn Douglas, Daphne Ditty, and twins Linus and Millie Ditty. She has uncountable nieces and nephews that survivor her.
